Vision Care for Homeless People

Imagine if everything you saw was out of focus, how would your life be affected? Now imagine if you were homeless and couldn’t see ...

SPECS network is proud to support the work of Vision Care for Homeless People, a charity providing the homeless and other vulnerable people with eyecare services in a friendly and welcoming environment. The charity aims to preserve, protect and promote the eye health of homeless and vulnerable people in the UK who are unwilling or unable to access mainstream services available through the NHS.

With several clinics in Birmingham, Brighton and London, Vision Care for Homeless People has provided eye tests for over 7,000 people over the last 10 years.

SPECS network went to meet VCHP. Take a look at the short film below from our visit.

Just £5 pays for an eye examination and glasses for one person, thanks to the donated professional time, testing equipment, frames and lenses, at the centres in London and Birmingham. A donation of £650 funds one of the centres for a month, making a tremendous impact for people on the periphery of society.
